The Opportunity
We are seeking a motivated and capable Accountant – Finance & Corporate Services to join our Finance team and support the continued growth and success of the business. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this position offers a diverse and rewarding opportunity to be involved in all facets of finance, accounting, treasury, compliance, payroll support, credit management, and business improvement initiatives.
About the Role
This position is ideal for an Accountant looking to broaden their commercial experience, or a Senior Accountant seeking a varied role with genuine involvement in business operations and decision-making.
Key responsibilities include:
Financial Accounting & Compliance
Preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports
Completion of balance sheet reconciliations and provisions
Preparation and lodgement of BAS and FBT returns
Maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register
Participation in annual budgets, forecasts, and financial planning
Assisting with interim and year-end audits
Preparation of ABS reporting requirements
Supporting ongoing improvement of financial controls and procedures
Accounts Receivable & Credit Management
Customer credit assessments and approval of credit limits
Management of debtor reviews and credit releases
Monitoring aged debtors and collection activities
Administration of credit insurance and PPSR registrations
Maintenance and reporting of debtor performance metrics
Accounts Payable & Treasury
Review and authorisation of supplier payments
Foreign currency transactions and hedging activities
Participation in Letters of Credit and international trade finance
Cash flow monitoring and treasury support
Review of supplier commercial terms and compliance obligations
Payroll & Administration
Payroll support, superannuation, payroll tax and workers compensation administration.
Employee onboarding and payroll maintenance
WGEA reporting and statutory compliance
Banking and bank reconciliations
General finance administration and reporting support
Strategic & Project Support
Providing support and backup to the CFO
Assisting with ERP implementation and systems improvements
Identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls, and efficiencies
Participating in business projects and corporate initiatives
Managing staff
Responsible for performance evaluations, leave approvals, and managing a small team of finance professionals.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
Bachelor of Commerce, Accounting, Finance or equivalent qualification
CPA or CA qualification (completed or progressing) is highly regarded
Previous experience in a commercial accounting environment, preferably within an SME
Strong knowledge of Australian accounting, taxation, payroll, and statutory compliance requirements
High-level Microsoft Excel skills
Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to build effective working relationships across all levels of the business
High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Current C-Class Driver's Licence
Experience with ERP systems, foreign currency transactions, treasury functions, inventory-based businesses, or wholesale/distribution environments will be highly regarded.
